Tuesday, May 5, 2009

CHARLESTON, SC - Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information in the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel.

Brittanee Drexel, a 17-year-old high school student from Rochester, N.Y., told her mother she was staying at a friend's house, but actually set off on a weekend vacation with friends to Myrtle Beach, S.C. And then vanished.

The last time anyone heard from her was when she sent a text message on the night of Saturday, April 25th, to one of her friends, authorities say.

Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes said officers are following a number of different tips in the disappearance of Drexel.

Police say the teen was last seen in the area of 11th Ave S and 20th Ave S. while returning to her motel after visiting friends from Rochester, New York. She was last seen wearing a white, black, teal, and gray top along with black shorts and white flip flops.

The public is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers if they, or someone they know, have any information regarding the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel, or of any other crimes, by phone at 1-888-274-6372 (1-888-CRIME-SC), or on the web at www.5541111.com.

Anonymous text tips can be sent to Crimes Stoppers of the Lowcountry by starting a new text message to CRIMES (274637), and mark the beginning of the message with "CSL". All contact remains anonymous and tipsters could earn a reward up to $1000.
